With rugged cliffs and swirling ocean on one side, and lush, green meadows on the other, a hike along County Antrim’s famed Giant’s Causeway Clifftop Experience is Ireland at its very best. Recently relaunched, this five-mile hike from the ruins of Dunseverick Castle takes you along the clifftop path to Northern Ireland’s first World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway. And along the way, you’ll see some of the best clifftop views in all of Europe. A unique landscape The Causeway Clifftop Experience is a successful partnership between the National Trust, the UK’s largest conservation charity and local tour company, ‘Away A Wee Walk’. The National Trust maintains this section of the long-distance walking route, the Ulster Way and is also responsible for the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway. According to Alastair Walker, Giant’s Causeway Site Manager, the Clifftop Experience will give visitors the opportunity to learn more about this remarkable cliff landscape and to understand the conservation work carried out by the National Trust across the Causeway Coast and Glens. Eimear Flanagan of scenic walking tour and holiday company ‘Away a Wee Walk’ sees the Experience as offering added value to those visiting the Giant’s Causeway. “The clifftop path is simply spectacular and the 944,000 annual visitors to the site can now experience even more of this amazing coast.’
